Deprivation Points Scheme
To promote regional and gender parity, JNU awards **Deprivation Points** to eligible candidates. These points are added directly to the entrance score of candidates who completed their qualifying examinations from backward districts (classified into Quartile 1 & Quartile 2) or belong to specific gender categories.
Regional Quartiles
- Quartile 1 Districts: 6 points awarded for candidates who studied in these highly backward regions.
- Quartile 2 Districts: 4 points awarded for candidates who studied in moderately backward regions.
Gender & Transgender
- Female Candidates: 5 points awarded to all female applicants from non-creamy layer categories.
- Transgender Candidates: 5 points awarded to support transgender inclusion in higher studies.
